DOT MATRIX MODULES Standard

DOT matrix modules

|
 The dotmatrix
LCDs offered are all equipped with the controller
HD44780 or compatible; they contain a complete character set and are
configured for operation on the 4- or 8-bit data bus of a processor system
with R/W, RS and Enable control lines.
We have special models with an extended temperature
range, a Cyrillic character set or a soldered
connector. Semi-customized solutions are possible as of 250
units.
Accessories: For these dotmatrix
LCDs we can supply suitable bezels,
RS-232
interfaces and EL
inverters. Displays that are illuminated by EL foils need to use the EL
inverters.
Specials: we do have I2C bus interface display with 3x12 character.

New are the EA
DOG series displays and backlights. These have been specially
developed for a +3.3V and +5V voltage supply. Unlike
other displays this series allows you to select the display type and
the backlight illumination. This way many combinations and personalized
effects can be created with standard components. Simply clip the
display and the backlight unit together and you have up to 63
possible combinations. Easy mounting and available with 5 different

RS-232/RS-422
alphanumeric display controllers |
|
The EA 9707-V24S interface allows dot-matrix LCDs to be programmed
easily and quickly. The EA 9707-V24 can be soldered directly onto almost all
our dot-matrix modules an add a standard RS-232C
interface. The data transmission rate is adjustable from 300, 1200, 2400
to 9600 bps. Special characters like Umlauts (ä, ö, ü, ß, Ä, Ö, Ü) are interpreted as extended IBM
code and recoded. If the display is full, it scrolls upward automatically.
CR ($0D,13d) and LF ($0A,10d) are also identified and executed. This automatic
function can be switched off for individual cursor positioning. The
standard supply
voltage is +5V but a 9-35V supply option is also available. An RS-422
driver can also be supplied (Part number EA 9707 OPT-RS-422).
A 1.5m cable with 9-pin D connector connects the EA 9707-V24S
interface board directly to a standard PC com port. (Part number
EA KV24-9).

RS-232 interface for graphics displays
We can
also provide a
suitable RS-232 interface for practically any
graphics LCD in our range. We also offer some displays as fully
configured graphics
units. The different displays have resolutions of 120x32 to 640x480 pixels. Each interface has a variety of integrated fonts and graphics
functions making programming of these graphics displays considerably
simple, which
can otherwise be really complex.

Bezels
Bezels with an anti-glare screen are available for
some graphics displays. The bezels are simply inserted into the opening
in the front panel. This gives your unit a professional look, and at the
same time the anti-glare screen prevents the integrated display from
being touched or getting dirty. The anti-glare screen makes the display
considerably easier to read. Please refer to the tables
above for the order numbers of the various bezels. You will find more
information on bezels in our data
sheet, which is available in PDF format, or on our bezel
page.

Inverters for EL foil illumination
In contrast to LED
illumination, EL foil illumination require a series-connected electronic
circuit. This electronic circuit, which is known as an EL inverter,
generates alternating voltage of around 100V from +5V DC. These EL
inverters have 3-5 pins that are soldered into a printed circuit board.
The type required depends on the illumination surface. You will find

page.

Cables and connectors
We accept orders of one or more
units of the following items for your display: one- or two-row
connectors and cables with a grid of 1.27 or 2.54 mm with a female
connector (one- or two-row) crimped on, with different numbers of pins
and a wide range of lengths.
